Fort Worth, Texas (January 23, 2025) - The Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) has approved a new contract for mineral & utility appraisal services following the expiration of its agreement with Pritchard & Abbott on December 31, 2024.
For several years, Pritchard & Abbott has been responsible for determining market values for gas and mineral interests, as well as related property like drilling rigs, compressors, and utilities (including power plants, pipelines, fiber, transmission lines, etc.) in Tarrant County. They also handled electronic transmission of mineral values and data to TAD, and managed property owner and leaseholder inquiries and protests before the Appraisal Review Board.
To ensure continued high-quality service and cost-effectiveness, TAD issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and invited five firms to submit proposals.
Two firms, Pritchard & Abbott and Capitol Appraisal Group, submitted proposals for the combined three-year contract. TAD staff reviewed both bids with pricing evaluated over a five-year period, thoroughly assessing each company’s qualifications, experience, and pricing. Although both firms met the required qualifications, the cost disparity was a key factor in the decision. By selecting Capitol Appraisal Group, TAD ensured continuity and high-quality customer service while operating within its budget.
Pritchard & Abbott will no longer handle mineral and utility services for TAD. For all prior year inquiries, please contact TAD staff directly. For mineral & utility account services, reach TAD at
(817) 284-9101. You may contact them Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Contact information for Capitol Appraisal Group will be shared once the 2025 value notices for mineral interests are mailed later this year.
